Bodh's education
program started with its Primary Schools. Bodh Primary schools have
over the years emerged as leading examples of innovative pedagogic
practice for alternative primary education in the country. Starting
with these beginnings, the program has over the years expanded to
include preprimary education and work with out of school adolescents.
It was later that
some schools have been expanded to Class VIII. There were several
reasons for this expansion- to ensure smoother transition of our own
children up to the end of the upper primary school years, to reduce
the dropout rate among children emerging from a progressive
alternative educational setting by enrolling them into traditional
schools and to ensure that the organization gains the experience of
working with a diverse age of learners. Upper Primary sections are now
in place in Bodh schools of the Urban Program. Programmatically there
has been a stress on the expansion of the existing Bodhshalas upwards
with corresponding work to enhance program quality and bring the same
standard of quality in this part of the program as well.
